Master of Arts

The curriculum of the MA (Theatre Arts: Theatre Studies) is designed for scholars, researchers, teachers and critics of Philippine theatre.

On the other hand, the curriculum of MA (Theatre Arts: Theatre Practice) is designed for performance practitioners who are interested to back-up their skills with performance theories.

All graduate students enrolled in the MA (Theatre Arts) program are required to take 21 units of core courses.

Students in the Theatre Studies track must take 12 units of Cognates to broaden their perspectives in the study of the theatre from an interdisciplinary modality.

Students in the Theatre Practice track must take 18 units of Theatre Electives to focus on technical and skills-based theatre courses in preparation for the program’s creative project requirements.

After passing 33 units of required courses, students in the Theatre Studies track must present a thesis proposal. After successfully presenting the proposal, students must write and defend their respective master’s theses.

After passing 39 units of required courses, students in the Theatre Practice track must present a creative project proposal. After successfully presenting the proposal, students must stage and defend their respective creative projects.
